Behind the scenes with our Barbell Athlete of the Month, Chris B.
How or when did your focus shift to concentrating on Novem’s Barbell Club programming?
I joined the Barbell Mechanics class when it first started (October?) and have been going ever since.
Tell us one thing about yourself that no one in the gym knows about you.
I speak four languages!
What is your Athletic background?
I ran cross country and track in high school, played a little ultimate in college, took a break, and have now been doing CrossFit since March 2016.
What is your favorite of the two competition lifts and why?
Hard to say; I like the C&J because it feels good and the split jerk is really fun, but I like the snatch because I’m not great at it and it forces me to really focus and dial in on technique.
What do you find most rewarding with the competition style of lifting?
I like that it rewards patience and attention to detail.
Do you have any goals or aspirations to compete?
Maybe one day, but for now I just want to keep training technique and mobility.
How has Novem Barbell Club impacted your training and your life?
My mobility has always been pretty bad, but Barbell Mechanics has been fantastic for really improving that and body awareness, which in turn has been great for CrossFit workouts.
