With the summer months headed our way, here are a couple of things that we need to remember when we are at the gym.

Hydrate!

Yes, I know it sounds obvious, but a lot of times we tend to forget the simplest things that our bodies need. Protein shakes and other supplements sound great, but most of the time, your body really just needs good old fashion water. So next time: skip the morning coffee and be sure to bring some water with you (in a re-useable water bottle!) to the gym.

Don’t be a chalk monster!

We know that when it gets hot, you may want to cake the chalk on those sweaty palms, but that only leads to tearing! A little extra is okay to get a better grip, but don’t over do it because it will only hurt you in the end.

Clean up your area!

We all get sweaty. This is a fact. So please make sure you spend that extra time to clean up all your equipment and the floor you’ve left behind. A few extra minutes to clean up will keep the germs away. This includes spraying and wiping down bikes, rowers, bars, and the rig, as well as a quick mop of the floor. Trust me…we know when you don’t do it…

Share the fan!

You know who you are: working out 2 inches in front of the fan doesn’t allow airflow and even worse, you drop the barbell and break the equipment or hurt yourself! So “sharing is caring” guys! If you begin to overheat, just go outside and take a second to breathe.

Safety first!

If at anytime you feel like the weather/heat is getting to you during a class, please make sure you let the coach know. Your health and safety is our NUBMER ONE PRIORITY, so it is okay if you take it easy one day and come back to hit the next workout!
