Behind the scenes with our CrossFit Novem’s Athletes of the Month, Josh!
What got you into CrossFit?
The fact that it is two blocks from my house helps. I’ve always worked out, but not as consistently as I should. With Crossfit I like that I can be in and out in an hour, have a great workout and then still have the rest of my evening. I’m also VERY competitive so seeing people around me doing the same workout makes me want to push harder. I am also looking for a partner/husband and I heard CrossFit helps your booty grow.
What is your immediate fitness goal?
I currently have one short term and one long term. The first being a handstand pushup. I’m so close. The second is ring muscle ups. A lot of work and time is going to go into this but it is on my list for 2019. (If you have pointers let me know in class.)
Tell us one thing about yourself that no one in the gym knows about you.
I have 11 toes and I lived in Azerbaijan for 3 years while I was in the Peace Corps teaching English and I am fluent in three languages including Turkish and Azeri.(Just kidding about the toe thing)
What is your Athletic background?
I played team and solo sports my whole life including: Football, wrestling and cross country. I’ve run several marathons and ultra marathons.
Favorite Benchmark, wod, and lift.
I love hang cleans, squat cleans anything with the word clean in it.
How has CrossFit impacted your life?
Too many ways to count. I’m in way better shape then I was last year and not just aesthetically (but thank you, I know I look good) but generally stronger. And overall I just feel healthier. This includes eating better, drinking more water, sleeping better.
