How or when did your focus shift to concentrating on Novem’s Barbell Club programming?
I switched from CF when powerlifting was added to the WL programming. I’ve wanted to try Powerlifting for about a year because I hate snatches. #sorrynotsorry
Tell us one thing about yourself that no one in the gym knows about you.
I dropped out of pre-school and hated school throughout my youth. I eventually graduated with two master’s degrees though.
What is your Athletic background?
I’m an Adult-Onset Athlete. About 8 years ago I started Muay Thai and running and then found Novem which has been my second home for the past 5 years. No high school sports (see answer to question 2).
What is your favorite of the two competition lifts and why?
Deadlifts because I’m short and I don’t have far to pick something up or put something down.
What do you find most rewarding with the competition style of lifting?
The confidence I have gained around a barbell and getting stronger!
Do you have any goals or aspirations to compete?
Not really but who knows. I mostly just want to be strong so I can live until I’m 100+ years old.
How has Novem Barbell Club impacted your training and your life?
I was an “indoor kid” growing up so belonging to a gym was out of my comfort zone. The support from the coaches at Novem and crew at The Yard has helped me believe I belong here as well as gain confidence to lift really heavy weights. The Novem Community is so supportive and I’m grateful to have ya’ll in my life!
